Ceremony Music
It is only natural that Brandon and I are focusing heavily on the musical portion of our wedding. We both love music: the listening and playing of it.
We are envisioning flute being incorporated somehow—and for once, I won’t have to be the one playing. :)
“Here Comes the Bride” won’t be a featured piece. We’ve discussed songs that are a little bit more avant-garde and that reflect both of our backgrounds.
Here are some ideas we have compiled:
- “Carolan’s Welcome,” which is a traditional Irish piece.
- “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the film The Mission
- “Appalachia Waltz,” which has been done by Mark O’Connors waltz trio and Yo-Yo Ma
- “Emma Soundtrack.” A few themes from this film would make a beautiful recessional.
- “The Flower Duet” by Delibes
- “Air de Trompette” by Telemann for something quite bombastic
- “Flute Concerto in D Major,” second movement, by Vivaldi
Let us know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions.
We are open to any and all instrumentation. If you have any Celtic/Irish/Scottish pieces you know of written for strings, flute or piano, please leave a comment!
